Title of Policy: Online Book Checkout via Courier Service with Northern Kentucky University and Thomas More College for students, faculty and staff at Gateway Community and Technical College

2. Overview:

This Standard Operating Procedure provides the guidelines for online book checkout and delivery via courier service, with Northern Kentucky University and Thomas More College for students, faculty and staff at Gateway Community and Technical College using the GCTC Courier Service.

4. Procedures:

NKU Library Checkout
    A. Select the book you want from NKU’s NKUIRE online catalog. Click on the title of the item to select it. The book’s bibliographic record will open.

    B. At the top of the page select PLACE A HOLD.

    C. Enter your Library ID. Use the 9-digit number located in the upper left hand corner on your Gateway ID card. The student number on your schedule is the same.

    D. In the second blank, put your LAST NAME.

    E. Click OK on the next page to initiate HOLD REQUEST.

    F. On the PLACE A HOLD page: Make sure you use your Gateway ID number for Library ID.

    G. In COMMENTS area, insert where you want to pick up the book; Boone, Covington, or Edgewood campus.

    H. Click the SUBMIT button to complete process.

    I. You will receive an email from NKU saying that a hold has been placed on the book you requested. That means that the book will be sent to the library you requested. The Librarian at Gateway will send you an email to your Gateway account when your book has arrived. It is your responsibility to pick up the book from the Gateway Library you designated and return it to either the Gateway Library or to NKU’s Steely Library on or before the date due. Any fines for late returns or damages are the responsibility of the person who checked out the titles.

    J. The Gateway campus courier will pick up books at NKU Steely library twice each week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays and deliver them to the campuses indicated by the students. Bags labeled with the GCTC campuses are provided for NKU staff.

5. Procedures:

TMC Library Checkout
    A. Select the book you want from the Thomas More Online Catalog.

    B. Click the title to view the book's bibliographic record.

    C. Write down Title, Author(s) and Call Number for the book(s) you want or copy and paste.

    D. Fill out the Book Request Form.

    E. You will be sent an email to your Gateway email account when you book has arrived.

    F. The Gateway campus courier will pickup books at Thomas More College library twice each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and deliver them to the campuses indicated by the students. Bags labeled with the GCTC campuses are provided for NKU staff.

Policy Review and Revision: This Standard Operating Procedure will be reviewed annually as part of the comprehensive institutional effectiveness process.
