Admissions

Gateway welcomes all applicants who are at least 16 years of age and who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Graduated from high school
  • Earned a high school general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Eligible to pursue a GED
  • Enrolled in high school and at the college at the same time.

Students without a high school diploma who are eligible to pursue a GED can be admitted into certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs. However, they cannot receive an associate degree unless they show proof of high school or GED completion. A GED can be completed while a student is enrolled at Gateway.

First-time students must complete an application for admission. Students who are re-entering the college after being out for one or more semesters must update their student records with the Registrar’s office. Students may be admitted as freshmen, as visiting students, or as non-degree students.

Note:
Curriculum in the KCTCS system is constantly being reviewed, improved and updated to ensure quality and relevance. Exact course requirements will be provided by a program advisor at an advising session or upon enrollment. Courses listed in this document are representative, but not binding on Gateway Community and Technical College.
