Health and Wellness TechnologyDescriptionThe Health and Wellness Technology Program offers a flexible, innovative curriculum designed to meet the changing needs of the health care marketplace. The program provides the students with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to hospitals, massage clinics, rehabilitation clinics, spas, behavioral health clinics, orthopedic rehabilitation centers, wellness/fitness centers, doctor’s offices, private practice, and athletic programs at the high school, college, or professional athletics level. Under the Health and Wellness Technology Program, Gateway offers credentials in massage therapy. Students are trained to be massage therapists from entry level Swedish Massage, for its therapeutic and relaxation benefits, through Advanced Medical Massage (Sports and Orthopedic Massage) for the specific needs of the athlete and to aid in recovery and rehabilitation from illness, injury and surgery. As a medical model, therapists will gain expanded knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology and Medical Terminology. Other modalities are introduced to the massage therapist’s education to enhance skills and knowledge.
