GCTC Offers Free Film Fridays

Gateway Community and Technical College is offering an international film festival sponsored by the college’s Multicultural Student Organization, the English Department and the Student Government Association. Each film spotlights the culture of a different country. Local speakers and international cuisine are featured with some films.
Films are free and open to the public. They are screened on Fridays from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in Room 208 of the Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Center at GCTC’s Edgewood Campus, 790 Thomas More Parkway. Festival screening dates are:
March 27, featuring South Africa, Totsi. Robyn Bryson, a GCTC nursing student and native of South Africa, is the featured speaker.
April 3, featuring Iran, Persepolis.
April 17, Afghanistan, local premier of the documentary, Once in Afghanistan. Charlene McGrath, GCTC director of information and library services, is the featured speaker. McGrath spent a year in Afghanistan as a Peace Corps volunteer.
April 24, The Taliban, Osama.
May 1, Australia, Rabbit Proof Fence.
May 8, Romania, Four Months, Three Weeks, and Two Days. A food tasting of a Romanian dish will be featured.
