Derby Party Benefits Weingartner Endowed Nursing Scholarship at Gateway

Friends and family of the late Scott Weingartner will host a Kentucky Derby viewing party Saturday, May 2, from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at Dickmann’s Sports Café in Fort Wright. Proceeds from the fund-raiser will benefit the Scott Weingartner Endowed Scholarship in Nursing at Gateway Community and Technical College.
Weingartner was a GCTC nursing student when he died in a traffic accident in 2005. The scholarship fund was subsequently created in his memory.
The public is invited to watch the race on the big screen while bidding on prize packages and vying for a $100 door prize. There will be split the pot drawings, mint juleps and other surprises.
