GCTC Summer Sessions Begin May 18

Gateway Community and Technical College is accepting students for summer sessions that begin May 18, as well as fall terms beginning Aug. 17.
The college has five summer sessions ranging in length from three to 10 weeks. In addition to six- and 10-week sessions beginning May 18, the college is offering four- and eight-week sessions starting June 3, and a three-week session that begins July 13. The summer class schedule is posted on Gateway’s web site at www.gateway.kctcs.edu on either the “Become a Student” or “Current Students” page.
Admission to Gateway is open to anyone who is at least 16 years old and has a high school diploma, a high school general equivalency diploma (GED) or who is eligible to pursue a GED.
Prospective students and parents are invited to an information session May 1 at 9:30 a.m. in Room E101 at the Student Services Center at the college’s Edgewood Campus, 790 Thomas More Parkway. A financial aid lab will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Room E209 at the center. Persons interested in learning how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for summer school should bring copies of their 2007 tax return and W-2 forms to the financial aid workshop.
The information session is open to students who interested in attending summer or fall sessions. Gateway is offering eight different fall sessions, ranging from five to 15 weeks in length with start dates on Aug. 17, Sept. 9, Sept. 23, Oct. 14 and Oct. 31. The full fall calendar and course schedule can be accessed under the student menus at www.gateway.kctcs.edu.
To enroll, prospective students must complete an application, submit entrance test scores or a previous college transcript, and schedule an appointment with the Academic Advising Center, which advises all new students to ease the transition into college. Students can arrange to take the entrance test, which is used to place students in classes, through the college.
